World of Warcraft Lionheart Executioner Weapon

by admin ~ November 25th, 2011

wow lionheart executioner weapon

With Christmas just around the corner and WoW’s Pilgrims Bounty in-game event on, this excellently designed plastic dagger will be a cool addition to your arsenal this year. Actually, never mind Christmas, it’ll make a cool toy or present in general, for you or for your kids.

Featuring a jagged edge plastic blade, the owner of this Executioner Weapon will feel like they’re fighting off the Orcs from World of Warcraft instantly. The artwork fits the in-game weapons with a red heart at the top of a raven claw style handle.

More and more are taking their in-game experiences into the real world, with card games, costumes and toys becoming more and more popular. Whether you’re looking for a present for your kids or a friend or other family members, this WoW dagger will be a most welcome gift. If you’re definitely sure the recipient is into World of Warcraft, then chances are you won’t go wrong with getting them this cool dagger.

Re-enacting some of the key events from the game can be a great way to extent your experience of World of Warcraft. Why not grab two of these Executioner Weapons and have some cool playfights. Actually, why not go even further and pick up other WoW gear and have some full-blown battles? One could dress up as an Orc and the other a Night Elf or one of the other Alliance races. Or, even better, why not get a bunch of friends together and have an epic battle to the death? (not literally).

Whatever you decide to do, at the price that this plastic dagger is currently being sold for, you won’t be happier with this cool toy.

Blizzard’s New Talent System – For Better Or For Worse?

by admin ~ November 5th, 2011

new talent system

Blizzard have openly admitted that their revamp of the talent trees with the release of Cataclysm didn’t 100% work as intended, and so they are going to try again when Mists of Pandaria goes live, real soon.

Basically, the old system will be gone, gone, gone and players will no longer have to choose between 3 individual trees. Now, players can choose between talents from individual sets that will be rewarded every 15 levels, regardless of spec. Sounds crazy eh? Yea, I thought so too since what’s stopping someone from totally goofing up their specs? Well, obviously Blizz will still let you respec for a small coin charge, but all the new talents will obviously be linked to a defined spec.

To add to some of the confusion, though, the new talents won’t be “bought” as previously, but toggled, so when a player hits every 15 levels, he or she can select one of 3 to become active, allowing up to 6 talents to be active. This sounds like an extremely low amount but to add to the fun factor, Blizzard are letting us retalent much more easily, so during dungeon raids we can switch between different “toggled” talents as and when needed.

The idea is to allow gamers to open up their characters to really feel like they can be individual and not have to choose the latest cookie-cutter talent spec to be the best. I see this taking quite a bit of getting used to since there are less talents available but they will apparently have a much bigger effect on our gameplay. Personally, I like change and am looking forward to it and I doubt Blizzard would be able to totally upset their army of fans, even if they tried!

Class Talents vs. Specialization Abilities (per Game Director Tom Chilton, and Lead Systems Designer Greg Street)
by Lylirra – Oct 21, 2011

So what does this mean for important spec-based spells and abilities like Hammer of the Righteous and Circle of Healing?

At level 10, players will still select a specialization and unlock an iconic class specialization ability. As players level up, they will then automatically learn both class-based and specialization-specific abilities at set intervals. The specialization abilities you learn will be largely comprised of old talents we feel players should have, as well as core class abilities that not every spec needs.

For example, for a level 25 Protection paladin, his or her training list may look a little something like this:

  • Level 10: Avenger’s Shield (Protection ability)
  • Level 10: Judgments of the Wise (Protection ability)
  • Level 12: Rightous Fury (Class ability)
  • Level 13: Redemption (Class ability)
  • Level 14: Flash of Light (Class ability)
  • Level 15: Hand of Reckoning (Class ability)
  • Level 16: Lay on Hands (Class ability)
  • Level 18: Divine Shield (Class ability)
  • Level 20: Hammer of the Righteous (Protection ability)
  • Level 22: Supplication (Class ability)
  • Level 24: Consecration (Class ability)

These spells and abilities will be trained in the field, appearing immediately in players’ spellbooks once they reach the appropriate level. As a result, there will no longer be a need to visit class trainers save to re-spec or purchase Dual Specialization, keeping players engaged and doing what they enjoy.

With this new method of distributing abilities, we can ensure that players are receiving role-defining talents at levels that make sense and will benefit them the most as well as deliver fun and meaningful choices along the way.

Hallow’s End – Witches and Ghouls are coming!

by admin ~ October 14th, 2011

Hallows_End_Headless

With Halloween fast approaching, it can only mean one thing and that is the annual event of Hallow’s End in World of Warcraft.

The annual events that come around in WoW are incredible fun and Hallow’s End stands up there close to being the number one event. Starting on October 18th and running all the way through to the end of October, players in Azeroth will find a huge range of quests, events and NPCs to interact with and pass the time when it’s starting to get cold outside and the nights are coming earlier.

The Lore of Hallow’s End is addictive. This event marks the day that a group of Undead who became to be known as the Forsaken broke free from the Lich King’s grasp and regained their free will. Their main way of celebrating this is by setting fire to a Wickerman after their leader, Sylvanas, carries out the annual speech.

One of the main events that players can interact with is the Headless Horseman attacking some of the towns throughout Azeroth, namely Kharanos, Goldshire, Azure Watch, Razor Hill, Brill and Falconwing Square. The Horseman starts the event by attacking the buildings in each town with fire, setting them alight. It’s up to the players to stem this madman from burning down the towns to ashes by using buckets of water to douse the flames. He will then land in the towns and become attackable by those players in the vicinity. Once defeated he’ll drop a pumpkin which can be smashed to a pulp revealing some shiny loot!

One of the most fun features of Hallow’s End is the ability to turn other players into a hilarious shape-shifting form. By talking to an innkeeper, you will receive a trick bag or a trick bag. The treats will contain goodies, the best one being a Hallowed Wand. Use this on others to turn them into one of these forms: Assassin, Bat, Ghost, Leper Gnome, Pirate, Skeleton or a Wisp.
Fun times are ahead to be had by all, so make sure you log in during the period mentioned above to experience the fun of Hallow’s End.
